Whoooo Hoooo ! Lets Recycled Those Old Tennis Shoes
We got this edition of The Bite in the mail today and were Oh-So blown away with their Recycled Shoe campaign this month.

At last month’s production meeting,  we had already decided that we’re doing two shows this month on Shoes – yepper. One of our Entrecard Buddies is Going to be the Star of One of Those Shows. We’re not letting the cat out of the bag just yet.. (sorry daisy and harley) but you can be assured that This Will Be the “Cats Meow”.

The Benefits

  • You’ll create less waste while cleaning out your closet – Reuse-A-Shoe alone has kept more than 23 million pairs of shoes out of the dump.
  • Every pair helps – gently worn shoes can outfit feet in the developing world, while shabby ones can be made into surfacing for things like tennis courts.

Lets All dig in those closets and find some shoes to donate to help a needy runner; or to build a kids playground; or a basketball court.

If 10,000 Biters recycle a pair of shoes, we’ll keep enough footwear out of landfills to make the floors for four outdoor basketball courts.

  • Soles4Souls – donate used-but-useable pairs to people in developing countries by dropping your shoes off at a nearby drop spot, or shipping them.
  • One World Running – donate near-new athletic shoes to cash-poor sports players.
In August, Burger King apologized to a customer who was kicked out of one of its restaurants because her baby wasn’t wearing any shoes.

That pair of unworn shoes could be the one pair someone needs; or that will help to build that playlot your kids can be proud to say they donated their shoes to.
