YES Elephant Crap Shoes (and I thought Alexander McQueen was off his track with those ugly shoes he made this season). but these, well these shoes right here..

S T I N K

Sorry but I hate ugly shoes and these are the ugliest stinking shoes I’ve ever seen. Now the designer is an internationally known painter who is very talented. But who told him he could make shoes for women ? I think he should make them for HIMSELF and Leave My Feet out of this ish.

BTW, this story is from Current.com.

Fo Real Doh,

Recycled Elephant Dung Heels Flirt With Sky-High Organic Style

British painter Chris Ofili’s series of elephant feces art works, in which he’s used the unexpected medium somewhat like molding clay and occasionally plaster, imbue his canvases with a textural interest that certainly makes onlookers sit up and take notice. His Nigerian descent likely comes into play with his choice of artistic material, but once you get past the normal revulsion that kicks in, it’s not such a strange thing in light of the fact that it’s entirely organic compared to many of the other art supplies that contemporary artists use today. Nevertheless, he’s become emblematic of the notion of $#*t hitting the fan because there are certain people who really don’t like the idea of art dancing with excrement, even if it’s a clever way to repurpose something that would otherwise attract the attention of flies and dung beetles.

Of course, one has to wonder if the Turner Prize-winning artist intentionally tried to stir up controversy with his decision to incorporate not just animal excrement but also nude collage images in his 1996 mixed media effort, “The Holy Virgin Mary” or if he’s really just a huge fan of our largest member of the wild kingdom. When the aforementioned work was slated to appear in a Brooklyn Museum exhibit, former New York City mayor Rudy Guiliani attempted (quite unsuccessfully, I might add) to block it from public view, inadvertently helping the artist to achieve an even greater presence in the artistic community. Ofili’s donation of $105,000 to the Zoological Society of London’s Whipsnade Wild Animal Park to create an outdoor elephant play area might very well indicate where his allegiances are rooted (along with the fact that he has frequently smuggled dung from Africa and has also augmented his supplies with London Zoo donations). Perhaps there’s also a defiant ember smoldering within the artist’s soul, as well.

Ofili has made such a far reaching impression that Britain’s Tate Gallery asked six of today’s most promising artists to create an original work that pays homage to his bold artistic style. The final product created by one designer is so stellar in vision and outrageous in scope that I don’t believe anyone else could have come even remotely close to capturing the essence that is so fittingly Ofili.

Behold INSA’s 10 inch elephant dung heels, constructed with excrement from the identical family that generated Ofili’s 90’s based dung supplies – now THAT’s going above and beyond the call of duty for the sake of artistic authenticity! With a background of street graffiti behind him, INSA succeeded in creating a bold, ostentatious and highly ornate fashion statement with his earthy, sky-high, resin-coated elephant excrement shoes. Do you think that Jimmy Choo needs to watch his back or what?!?!

Some people can make art out of anything and everything, and make it so appealing that it sells for big bucks! Artist Sayaka Ganz, 33, has created beautiful animal art using nothing but thousands of plastic spoons, knives and forks! She has managed to create a dog, eagle and fish, and a set of galloping horses ranging from 18 inches to eight feet in length, with around 500 pieces of junk, including sunglasses, cutlery and bendy baskets. Some of the wireframes are quite complicated and can take up to nine months to make. And seen as a collector’s item, you can get one for yourself at $10,895.

These are the Horses – they look as though they are soaring on wind.

Yes this is Plasticware, that would have been discarded but was instead Upcycled. we love this idea for the reuse of such common plastic items. most of the time we just use them and toss them as a convenience. imagine if art schools began to teach upcycling as a part of their regular curicullum.

This is what we want to see – Art and Artists, Soaring Above the idea that trash is useless. we started contemplating the notion of reuse on a much wider scale recently. it comes down to seeing something that has been discarded as the beginings, instead of the end.

We can all Soar a little bit higher; when we reuse, recycle and UPCycle just a little bit more. share this concept with everyone you know and you’ve made the first step in your UpCycle.

The Rainbow Worrier, a boat created from a staggering 5,000 plastic bags, is a fantastic example of using art to raise environmental awareness – even filled with plastic fish in nets to stress how plastic is destroying marine ecosystems.
Lets All Sing Along, to a Friendly Green Song

yes that is a pop bottle art chandelier. just so you know that green can be very upmarket as well. this chandelier is a one of a kind from a student art show. this is what we will slowly begin to see hitting the showrooms across the country, at green homestores; and better green outfitters.

IN Case You Missed the News Flash, the planet seriously needs us to pay attention. hopefully enough of us old tymers out there remember this really cool song. most of the youngins will remember the coca cola version.

and yes that is the bottom of a 2liter soda bottle turned into a Jellyfish Lamp.

This plastic coke bottle scaffolding could be put together as a temporary shelter with minimal equipment and technology. artists could construct these for sale easily. this is a “ready to make moneymaker” which could be personalized and constructed in the drop of a hat.

The World Certainly needs more Apple Trees; Clean Streams and Less Coke bottles littering the roads. these green lamps could light the night all across the globe; if we started recycling these bottles instead of tossing them into landfills. remember the life of an average plastic bottle is 700 years. why not make it work for those years instead of just laying around polluting our precious water and land space. plastic is estrogenizing our population and that is an even bigger nightmare – it’s coming smack at us, just up the road.

Lets Teach the World To Sing, When We ALL Take a Moment and Recycle, Repurpose, Reuse and Reduce This Week; instead of buying more. all of these pretty green recycled plastic items are worth much more recycled; than originally when sold. just consider the value of the goblets; – the fact that they won’t break; are quite easy to make in large groups and personalization is a snap. that makes them a young artists dream. kids could clean up on this.

if more artists were to start to sell these types of recycled simple gift items for the holidays; more bottles would be recycled, and more one of a kind gifts would land under giftwrap; thereby increasing the global happiness quotent. most of us feel good, when we do the right thing, and we always know that a recycled gift item, is the best item we can get. the item helps the economy, and the ecology. it’s a double win for all involved.

Artists are Big Thinkers; and as such Lead the Way Always

Remember that before you discard another free repurposable. All Plastic Bottles last 700 years in a landfill if not repurposed. we can make many things from bottles and should. not only can we make usables, but art as well.

This is a collection of Bottle Caps and Lids, which were discarded; reclaimed and repurposed into a one of a kind piece of art. this is so simple to do, yet so creative. just take a moment and toss that lid into a drawer before you recycle the bottle. the lid itself may actually become another inspiration.

Since this is the end of our post, we thought this was appropriate – This is the bottom of the bottle sliced off and bound together to create a lacy curtain. unbelievably lovely and unbelievably easy. who couldn’t cut the bottom off the water bottle and trim the flowers ? I predict we will start to see these for sale at art fairs around the country very soon.

Don’t You Love Shoes ??

I must admit my obvious affection for my pedi friends. they are of every possible style and fashion; season and purpose; as well as various pairs of “Limo Shoes”. < (shoes you put on when you don’t plan on doing any walking – are you with me on this .. ?? LIMO . (ooohhh oookkkk.. I’m sure you are saying to yourself)

since it’s warm outside, walkability is a chief concern for me in this type of weather. I have places to go and things to do. I often opt for various styles of gym shoes. I like everyone else has had my love affair with Chucks.. and yes I still have a pair of chucks. they’re low cuts but I got a pair – hey, don’t you ??

So since it’s tennie weather, this is the perfect time to nicey up those hit old tennies that you just don’t want to part with. even the ones with the holes and tears. remember these days ‘Torn and Worn is the new – New’.

Go get out the tennies, put em on the desk along side the monitor – while you enjoy this potpourri of video goodness; on Hookin Up Your Kicks.

while you’re watching, make sure you jot down a few ideas for your retreatment and redesign; as well as noting the supplies used by the designer. then you can “Flash out inna Your Style” – whether it’s a rude bwoy, bad gyal, or sweet thang – make sure you save a pair of tennies this summer.

the interior treatment is Green and Simple. remove all smells by putting a few cotton balls soaked in white vinegar inside the shoes, then remove an discard them after a few hours. for a total rejuvination, you can also insert a new pair of insoles with charcoal. first remove the old ones; clean the interior and give them the white vinegar treatment. Then reglue the new insoles with your favorite flexible craft glue – we suggest E6000.

we also take a moment to lightly spray the interior with “White Vinegar” after the artistic treatments It helps to remove any left over smells from the artwork. it doesn’t hurt the art, and It naturally freshens up your shoes each time you wear them. the heat from your feet, seems to reactivate the deodorizer; so you’re taking a really green approach to personal aroma management. Now that’s really cool.

One additional green tip is when you see them on sale at the end of the season, get an extra pair to create for next year. this saves you a few dollars when they come out next year at a higher cost. recycle the savings into art supplies to restyle and recycle more of your shoes and boots. yes boots. we’ll do boots as it approaches the fall.

Remember “You Are In Charge of the Planet, Be Nice because Mom is Watching..”

now lets get to work designing divas !

~RE

Fashion Enemy does the do to a pair of “Chuck Taylor” High Top Converse Gym Shoes

I plan to do my own version of these shoes later in the summer. and yes I will be posting my pics of my shoes and telling you what I did to them and how.
