Technically this is not Green Design – but it is if you reuse the straws and then refashion them into these unbelievable pieces.  we found lots of different designs and designers working on wilder pieces all the time.

These pieces are not in production or for sale, that we know of. we found them on the internet and thought you might enjoy a lil eye break.

A Chair Made From 10,000 Drinking Straws [Furniture]

The Thousand and One Drinking Straw Lamp

Scott Jarvie has created this beautiful lamp, made of hundreds of striped drinking straws. The result is a gently colored light. Now we only need a thousand Mojitos and a lot of sucking power. [Mocoloco]

This is part of an installation in a gallery -

there were several other pieces; I chose this one because of it’s symetry, and how useful this might be for someone working with a limited space and wanting a solution to inexpensive art in unusual spaces – it’s magical indeed.

now you know we wouldn’t leave you hangin, here’s the how do they do it video – and it’s a good one from gb. the narrator is very informative and funny. his 1970’s twist on why things are wrapped seperately really is cute.

It’s amazing that it shows the whole line of plastics and even slo mo’s the process. we found this one,  so that you can understand a little more about why plastic throw away one useables; as they refer to them – look that way. we hope you enjoyed our peek at plastic straws, and hopefully now you’ll start saving your stash for a beautiful art project to green your recyclable surroundings.
