mm: Do You Remember When We Didn’t Throw Money Away?

Lets All Sing Along, to a Friendly Green Song

yes that is a pop bottle art chandelier. just so you know that green can be very upmarket as well. this chandelier is a one of a kind from a student art show. this is what we will slowly begin to see hitting the showrooms across the country, at green homestores; and better green outfitters.

IN Case You Missed the News Flash, the planet seriously needs us to pay attention. hopefully enough of us old tymers out there remember this really cool song. most of the youngins will remember the coca cola version.

and yes that is the bottom of a 2liter soda bottle turned into a Jellyfish Lamp.

This plastic coke bottle scaffolding could be put together as a temporary shelter with minimal equipment and technology. artists could construct these for sale easily. this is a “ready to make moneymaker” which could be personalized and constructed in the drop of a hat.

The World Certainly needs more Apple Trees; Clean Streams and Less Coke bottles littering the roads.  these green lamps could light the night all across the globe;  if we started recycling these bottles instead of tossing them into landfills. remember the life of an average plastic bottle is 700 years. why not make it work for those years instead of just laying around polluting our precious water and land space. plastic is estrogenizing our population and that is an even bigger nightmare – it’s coming smack at us, just up the road.

Lets Teach the World To Sing, When We ALL Take a Moment and Recycle, Repurpose, Reuse and Reduce This Week; instead of buying more.  all of these pretty green recycled plastic items are worth much more recycled; than originally when sold. just consider the value of the goblets; – the fact that they won’t break; are quite easy to make in large groups and personalization is a snap.  that makes them a young artists dream. kids could clean up on this.

if more artists were to start to sell these types of recycled simple gift items for the holidays; more bottles would be recycled, and more one of a kind gifts would land under giftwrap; thereby increasing the global happiness quotent. most of us feel good, when we do the right thing, and we always know that a recycled gift item, is the best item we can get.  the item helps the economy, and the ecology. it’s a double win for all involved.

Artists are Big Thinkers; and as such Lead the Way Always

Remember that before you discard another free repurposable.  All Plastic Bottles last 700 years in a landfill if not repurposed. we can make many things from bottles and should.  not only can we make usables, but art as well.

This is a collection of Bottle Caps and Lids, which were discarded; reclaimed and repurposed into a one of a kind piece of art. this is so simple to do, yet so creative.  just take a moment and toss that lid into a drawer before you recycle the bottle.  the lid itself may actually become another inspiration.

Since this is the end of our post, we thought this was appropriate – This is the bottom of the bottle sliced off and bound together to create a lacy curtain. unbelievably lovely and unbelievably easy. who couldn’t cut the bottom off the water bottle and trim the flowers ? I predict we will start to see these for sale at art fairs around the country very soon.

Please let us teach the world to green, starting with one bottle at a time

  • Wow, I am not organized, nor do I care to be. I am totally out of your loop so I guess I will drop out of your drop zone because sometimes I forget to drop not just because I'm old,but because I don't feel like it. All the best to ya RE and I hope everything goes well.

    • Ms. Jude if I'm not mistaken we're the same age – born in 55'
I've actually become more organized as I've aged. my older sister
calls it working smarter not harder. she's so right about that.

I always take a moment before I do things to try my best to
      get the routine down to the most beneficial movements;
in all aspects. it's kinda like my own internal fung sui maybe.
you and I will see eachother because I'm always going to
drop by to see what's going on at your blog. I enjoy it very much.
especially since I agree we are \”mature and not senile\”.

      Best,

  • How in the world do you keep up with all your blogs, I would go nutsier than I already am. I love the recycled art and enjoy this blog, just though I'd let you know RE

  • Wow.. This is so incredibly artistic.. Most people will see them as trash but some would treasure them.. Love this!

  • amazing! thanks for sharing.

  • The GUYS are definitely on board with the movement. We have been for a while.

We need to give people more incentive to recycle. Not sure what the answer is, but many people just don't care unfortunately.

    • Hey Guys – art is in the eye of the art lover. these folks who toss things without a second thought are also not fully aware. more beautiful art from reusable sources might help awaken them, don't you think ?

  • Wow. All of the artwork is amazing. I'd buy that first one. I'm envious of the creativity and saddened by all the waste we produce. We try to do our part and it floors me to go to the beach and see cans just laying around that people are too damn lazy to dispose of properly. In Michigan we got the deposit back so people were more likely to return cans and bottles to be recycled. I think every place should have this.

    • Shelly you and I are alot alike.
do you still save your wine corks and bottle caps ?

I'm saving my caps for a bracelet and the corks
for what else – a huge kitchen cork board.

  • AWESOME ART! what more can i say? :D

    • Thanks – it's just to show how much we throw away;
so we can start to reclaim it.

    • Nancy most of the things we see made from recycled parts are the same as things we had before except for the thought that goes in to making it. think of how we made our own playdough; or crayons. reusing is an art and some of us enjoy it more because of folks like you.

      thanks for your comment

  • Green Green, Green Green Green..
Put it back in my pocket; instead of the trash.
    how bout you ?
