I HATE FLIES.. There is no more nasty creature with wings on this planet. they are flying roaches. I hate Roaches too but you can squish them easily. Flies, well you have to get ingenius to cut them down. so knowing this I decided to do a lil more in depth research into why I hate flies.

And they got the nerve to try to be breeding this time of year for next year.. Oh Yeahhh they got a whole lotta nerve. they’re nasty and they spread disease. did you realize that rats were infected with typhoid by both fleas and flies ?

Can you imagine that a fly could cause an entire epidemic ?

honestly that’s why we don’t worry about killing them when we see them; because it’s a good thing for the human element on this planet. it’s also said that flies help carry mad cow from herd to herd. this is why such fast spraying is done when a herd is found to be infected. they want to catch any escapees who could spread the disease to other herds nearby.

In the European workshops they came up with a way to deal with them after their part in spreading the typhoid epidemic was discovered – Fly Jars.

These hand-blown vessels are really pretty for a deadly trap. people in Europe have these in miniature that they keep in the window and kitchen. my friend in Paris has one that has little flowers painted on it to supposedly disguise it’s purpose; when not in use. very useful indeed..

Doctors offices and professional offices had these always. it was a matter of cleanliness, and trying to get to the root of the disease issues.  Victorian people were trying to learn and this was their way of controlling pests, gentiley.

These are older models from the mid 1800. I was told that you can still find similar models for sale today across Europe at antique dealers and flea markets. I’ve yet to run into one in the US or Caribbean. if these were in every hotel room in the Caribbean now – wow, we could be rich.

FYI it’s said that flies can fly hundreds of miles. yes hundreds of miles.

can you imagine cow poop from mississippi and dog poop from minnesota; mixing with your ice tea in ohio ?

yeahhh well it’s possible if you have flies in your house. they will fly from poop pile to poop pile, to sweet smells and deposit their nastiness with a single touch or flutter of their wings. and no we have no idea of why those flies are on her butt, but it looks reaaaaaaalllllll suspicious to us. (side-eye)

That to me is Real Poop Okay, call it what you want but It’s Still Fly POOP. BAD BAD POOP…

My favorite method of fly-kill is the Windex method (and I’m normally NOT a violent person- PETA People- I’ve done many nice posts on your behalf). Windex makes for an easy clean-up. I can’t use Windex right now because I’m sitting at my really nice Cherry wood dining room table. I may want to use the table one day.

My Dear Friends, The Easiest way to get rid of Wasps and Bees, give them what they want. Something SWEET.

He Uses Vinegar but we think sugary stuff works best for Flies. also Don’t Use The Tape or you’ll not be able to open it to empty it. just press the top in tight and you’ll be fine, unless you have Monster Flies with a Crane. YIKES.

This neat lil contraption actually lures them in with the promise of Sweet Nectar; which is what they want.

Then instead of being able to get in and out like they are used to. they fly in, get the nectar, and then drunk and disoriented; they are unable to fly out of the bottle – since the top is inverted.  Pull it Over Fly, Your Days Are Done.

Okies, Lets Make a No Touch Trap Now :

you can make it from any deep 2 litre plastic bottle

just follow the pics above and

• cut the neck off the bottle, at approximately the 1/3 down mark.

• pour some sweet liquid such as juice or even a piece of very sweet fruit, like pineapple or strawberries; about 1 inch deep in the bottom of the bottle.

• then replace the top inverted into the bottle, being careful to push the top portion firmly into the bottle to prevent it becoming dislodged.

• place it where the flying bugs seem to be a problem and stand back

In no time you’ll see a bumper crop of flying pests; all drunk and ready to be dumped in the trash.

for me the best liquids are

• pineapple or peach juice with some poop or fruit in it
• red, orange or grape koolaid with a lot of sugar
• orange, fruitpunch or grape soda pop – do not use diet soda – it does not work
• honey or water thickened syrup with a piece of fruit in it.

For The Pests, the smell of the fermenting sugar is the lure. when they smell it, they fly in to drink the endless supply – become sugar drunk, and collapse into the liquid.

If You are using this outside and you have flies – try to use Poop; it’s much more effective and gets the job done in record speed.  the sugary mixtures draw yellow jackets, bees and most pests, including mosquitos.  use these all over your garden, patio and on your porch to ensure a PETA Approved Pest Free Zone.

Voila A No Touch Trap – Quite Humane and Safe

put this out at night before a day on your patio, and you can empty it before you start to cook. remember to dump it often as the bees won’t go into it if they smell other bees decaying.

RickyC wrote in to tell us that he recently visited a lakeside restaurant and noticed some clear plastic bags filled with water hanging from the railings. When he inquired about the bags, a waiter explained that they were used to repel flies.

Evidently, houseflies, being highly edible and defenseless, are nervous types, and don’t like to sit still when they see something moving nearby, because it could be a predator. The water bag acts a bit like a lens—try it some time—in which the movements of people in the area are reflected. Even if the fly is too far from the action to see it directly, it can see a shifting of light and dark in the water bag, which it interprets as nearby movement, and it will fly away from the bag.

Why Does America Not Get It ?

At 8:00pm et it is being reported that there is now a mile-long oil sheen spreading from the site of the Vermilion Oil Rig explosion.

The platform had not recently been in active production and was undergoing maintenance, the US Interior Department said.

Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal said seven wells there were believed to have been active at the time of the blast.

Here we are all over again. Oil spilling out of a drilling rig in the Gulf of Mexico.  The nasty bonus is that it’s hurricane season.. Ahhhh Yessss.

This is our latest Disaster. and regardless of how quiet they’re being right now – there is no mention of how much oil is leaking on the news yet. and yes we find that too predictable. last time they knew it was too big to hush up – but this time, well lets just see what this lil mess develops into. btw, this is a scant 100 miles from the previous oil spill disaster area.

Thank God all the people who were on the platform were safe and accounted for. but now we have to find out who is responsible for cleaning up this mess, before it gets any worse.

Who are these people – Mariner Energy ?

The Vermilion 380 oil rig is owned by Mariner Energy, whose headquarters is located in Houston, Texas.  They apparently have at least 100 platforms in this area of the Gulf of Mexico.  we wonder what their safety record shows.  we also wonder what their drilling record shows. that’s all going to be revealed by the media in due time – no doubt. lets just hope that it’s clean.

CNN and Blippit Reports are beginning to come in that there is now a mile-long oil sheen spreading from the site of the Vermilion Oil Rig explosion.

According to Coast Guard Petty Officer Bill Coklough, the oil sheen is about 100 feet wide and was spotted near the platform operated by Mariner Energy.

Three firefighting vessels have already been dispatched to the site of the explosion and one of them has engaged in fighting the blaze at this hour.

The platform of the oil rig sits in approximately 340 feet of water and lies about 100 miles south of Vermilion Bay off the Louisiana coast.  That depth is much more shallow than the 5,000+ feet where BP’s Deepwater Horizon rig exploded and spewed oil three months.

All 13 people aboard the rig were found alive and floating in the water.

Additional Reporting from Skynews tells us that:  Louisiana governor Bobby Jindal told the media: “It is too early to know what sparked the fire.”

He said the blaze was continuing but according to reports it would soon burn out.

The White House has said a government response was ready if needed.

Mr Gibbs said: “We obviously have response assets ready for deployment, should we receive reports of pollution in the water.”

Sky News’ US correspondent Greg Milam said: “You can imagine the shudder that a headline like that causes across America.

We think we’re going to go with believing Governor Jindal right now. apparently he seems to know more and have more experts who are going to check the spill out directly. He has more on the spot experience in this problem area since the BP Horizon Disaster earlier this year.

Lets just hope that the US Feds get behind this investigation IMMEDIATELY - AND NOT ALLOW ANY EVIDENCE TO BE DESTROYED THIS TIME. THIS IS AFTER ALL A CRIME Scene – AND MARINERS ENERGY NEEDS TO PAY – NOW.  No More BP Flubs DOE, Get it right this time. Our Gulf Depends On It.

Donna Adamo, a passenger on board flight 1537, said she first noticed a couple of flies when she got to her seat on Monday but did not pay much attention to that.

As the plane was taxiing, she said she heard a passenger behind her causing a commotion and refusing to take her seat.

“Then I heard the word ‘maggot’ and that kind of got everybody creeped out,” Ms Adamo told AP.

Passengers were asked to get off because of a “minor emergency”

“All of a sudden, I felt somebody flick the back of my hair and on the front of me came a maggot, which I flicked off me.

But she said she “felt like they were crawling all over me because it only takes one maggot to upset your world”.

“And as they’re telling us to stay calm and seated, I see a maggot looking back at me and I’m thinking, ‘These are anaerobic, flesh-eating larvae that the flight attendants don’t have to sit with.’”

Ms Adamo said the pilot then announced that he had to return to the gate because of a “minor emergency on board”.

The plane was cleaned and then continued on to Charlotte.

However, the unnamed passenger who brought the spoiled meat in a carry-on bag was put on another flight, US Airways spokesman Todd Lehmacher said.

It was not immediately clear how the passenger managed to take the meat on board.

U.S. scientists design smart underpants that could save lives

SAN DIEGO (Reuters) – A team of U.S. scientists has designed some new men’s briefs that may be comfortable, durable and even stylish but, unlike most underpants, may be able to save lives.

Printed on the waistband and in constant contact with the skin is an electronic biosensor, designed to measure blood pressure, heart rate and other vital signs.

The technology, developed by nano-engineering professor Joseph Wang of University of California San Diego and his team, breaks new ground in the field of intelligent textiles and is part of shift in focus in healthcare from hospital-based treatment to home-based management.

The method is similar to conventional screen-printing although the ink contains carbon electrodes.

The project is being funded by the U.S. military with American troops likely to be the first recipients.

“This specific project involves monitoring the injury of soldiers during battlefield surgery and the goal is to develop minimally invasive sensors that can locate, in the field, and identify the type of injury,” Wang told Reuters Television.

Ultimately, the biosensor that detects an injury will also be able to direct the release of drugs to relieve pain and even treat the wound.

But the technology’s range of application goes beyond the military.

“We envision all the trend of personalized medicine for remote monitoring of the elderly at home, monitoring a wide range of biomedical markers, like cardiac markers, alerting for any potential stroke, diabetic changes and other changes related to other biomedical scenario,” said Wang.

Wearable biosensors can also provide valuable information to athletes or even measure blood alcohol levels.

But Wang said it could be some time before these smart underpants are worn by soldiers in the field as more work is needed to ensure these monitoring systems are robust and durable enough to cope with the wearer’s daily activity.

However he said there are growing needs for developing reliable, wearable healthcare monitoring systems.

“While clothing-integrated electrochemical sensors hold considerable promise for future healthcare, military or sport applications, such non-invasive textile-based sensing requires proper attention to key challenges of sample delivery to the electrode surface and of sensor calibration and interconnection,” Wang’s team said in a report published in The Royal Society of Chemistry journal.

All I want to know is if they’ll come with an audible Fart Alarm. Riiiiiight.. now that would make them real smart. (wink*wink)

Old televisions and computers containing hazardous substances are still being exported from Europe despite a ban aimed at stopping the trade, which poisons workers at makeshift recycling plants in Africa and Asia.

“We have an extraordinary amount of illegal shipment along the coast in Europe”, says Karl-Heinz Florenz, a German member of the European Parliament who is working to update EU law.

Traffickers trick the authorities by not labelling goods as electronics, by pretending they are for re-use, or by hiding them in the middle of a container.

The containers that get through are shipped to West Africa – most commonly Ghana and Nigeria – and to South Asian countries including India and Pakistan.

“The fundamental problem with electronics is that it’s designed in a very bad way,” says Kim Schoppink, a campaigner at the Dutch branch of Greenpeace who travelled to Ghana to look at the issue in 2008.

“That makes it very expensive to recycle in Europe and therefore it’s dumped in developing countries.”

(CNN) — Biologists suspect that unusually cold waters off the coast of Brazil were responsible for the deaths of more than 550 penguins that washed up on shore in the past 10 days.

Since July 11, about 556 dead penguins have appeared on beaches, Thiago do Nascimento, a biologist at the Peruibe Aquarium, told CNN.

At the beach of Praia Grande alone, on the Sao Paulo coast, more than 170 penguins have washed up on shore since Friday, according to the local government.

It is not unusual for penguins to show up on the Brazilian coast during their migration, but most of the time, they are alive, said another biologist, Isabelle Nunes.

Necropsies performed on many of the penguins show that they had no food in their stomachs and probably starved to death, Nascimento said, adding that cold weather probably contributed to their deaths.

Nunes said it is possible that the cold waters, brought on by a regional cold front, made the fish that the penguins eat seek other waters.

More tests are being conducted, Nunes said.

Farther north, on the famous beaches of Rio de Janeiro, penguin appearances and rescues have become common in recent years.

It’s normal for Magellan penguins to leave their colonies in the Antarctic in an annual migration in search of fish, following the plankton-rich, frigid water currents traveling north along the coast of South America. What has changed is that they are increasingly unable to return home because they get sick, weak or disoriented for reasons that have yet to be determined.

Climate change, overfishing and pollution of the water all could contribute to the penguins becoming lost.

The Niteroi Zoo, near Rio de Janeiro, first began receiving penguins for rescue in 1999. Since then, they have received an increasing number of the birds, peaking with 1,000 penguins in 2008.

The Gulf is an example of the damage we are doing to our environment. The oceans are a critical part of our food chain. Destruction to them, means destruction to humanity. Finger pointing does little good. Though it is time for us to step up and say, “Enough is Enough.”

Let’s put some teeth into all this talk about fossil fuel alternatives. The supply of crude oil is limited. Governments have the power to save this planet, though it will not be done if we continue down the path we currently are on.

Blog about alternatives. Add an Action Badge. Sign the Petition. Get Your Readers Involved. Tell the Government to do what they did when we wen’t to the moon. Say “we will become fossil fuel independent by 2020.” Tough challenges, calls for tough leadership and tough people. We will either pay the price now, or our children will pay it later.

The sea life in the Gulf have no voice and are already paying for our gross negligence. It’s time for Real Change. “Enough is Enough.” Environmental agencies are pandering to D.C. because they feel Obama is their best option.

Well, nothing great ever came out of Washington DC. Everything great started with a small group of people. Do not wait until it’s too late. The fate of this planet and what we hand to our kids is in our hands.

Let’s Unite as Bloggers. We are the Media. Enough is Enough.

Sir David King has called on governments to “de-fossilise” their economies

Future oil extraction could create new environmental, social and technological challenges, says the UK’s former chief scientist.

Sir David King said that, as global oil demand started to outstrip supply, oil companies would be forced to drill in unconventional places.

He cited the Gulf of Mexico oil spill as an example of the risks associated with the oil production.

Sir David was speaking at a press conference in London.

His comments come days before the World Forum on Enterprise and the Environment, organised by the Smith School of the University of Oxford. This event is meant to draw governments’ attention to the global addiction to fossil fuels.

Sir David is the director of the Smith School.

My First Idea is to start a tourism program much like they had after Hurricane Katrina to bring in volunteers to help with the clean up. Let them stay in local b&b’s and eat at local cafes’. Let our hands help to fix with our brains what our neighbors need fixed. It’s Called Eco Voluntourism and it’s popular all over the world. it’s made for this.

This is what they need in the gulf coast – Low Carbon Housing and Rebuilding / Rehabilitation Projects. Tom Rand is a very smart guy and he never wastes money or time. He has all of the work outlined and clarified. this is what the gulf needs. Carbon Neutral Businesses which Cost Less to produce, run and maintain – over the long run.

The President seems to be leaning toward defossilizing – Lets Go With It, cause it’s seriously something that we need to do, now.

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — BP Chief Operating Officer Doug Suttles continues to insist that no massive underwater oil plumes in “large concentrations” have been detected from the spill in the Gulf of Mexico.

Suttles’ comments came Wednesday morning on network news shows, a day after the government said water tests confirmed underwater oil plumes from the oil spill, but that concentrations are “very low.”

Suttles told NBC’s “Today” show that it “may be down to how you define what a plume is here.”

NOAA Administrator Jane Lubchenco said Tuesday that the tests conducted at three sites by a University of South Florida research vessel confirmed oil as far as 3,300 feet below the surface 42 miles northeast of the well site.

Meredith Vieira was hardhitting with her questions to Doug Suttles, probing him around the fact that BP still doesn’t know how much oil is leaking, and asking if the company is playing games on the advice of its legal team.

I’m a Gulf Coast Floridian presently working in Michigan; and I want you to know that regardless of what you think about egg on faces, I’ve got some peculiar feelings.

The symptoms have included throat irritation, coughs, chest pains, intense stress headaches, the inability to sleep or concentrate without being redirected unconsciously to the Gulf Oil Disaster; and anxiety like panic strickening shortness of breath.

The spill is believed to be America’s worst environmental disasterAs many as 40,000 barrels (1.7 million gallons) of oil a day may have been gushing out from a blown-out Gulf of Mexico well, doubling many estimates.

The US Geological Survey says that flow rate could have been reached before a cap was put on the well on 3 June.

Oil has been leaking into the Gulf since the Deepwater Horizon rig exploded on 20 April and sank off the coast of the US state of Louisiana, killing 11 workers.

BP said the device placed on the well collected 15,800 barrels of oil on Wednesday – slightly up on the 15,010 barrels collected in the previous 24-hour period.

New estimates for the oil spill prior to 3 June follow an assessment by a team of scientists put together by the US government and coordinated by the US Geological Survey.

“The lowest estimate that we’re seeing that the scientists think is credible is probably about 20,000 barrels, and the highest that we’re seeing is probably a little over 40,000,” said Marcia McNutt, director of the US Geological Survey.

The new estimates are staggering and only add to BP’s woes, the BBC’s Andy Gallacher in Florida says.

The British oil giant has estimated that up to 19,000 barrels a day was leaking from the ruptured well before they managed to partially contain the spill.

Last month, BP was estimating the leak to be the equivalent of just over 5,000 barrels per day.

“This is a nightmare that keeps getting worse every week,” said Michael Brune, executive director of the Sierra Club, America’s oldest environmental organisation.

“We’re finding out more and more information about the extent of the damage… Clearly we can’t trust BP’s estimates of how much oil is coming out.”

‘Lack of integrity’

Relations between BP and the White House are now more strained than ever, our correspondent reports.

Then we have our ubber gorgeous blue eyed environmental activist boyfriend; Producer BadBwoy Robert Redford; and He is Pissed.  Wowwww – He’s letting errybody know that He’s gonna kick some BP all up in the house and the senate.  He’s talking about the reality of what has to happen to change the system that “made” this happen.  Remember this was done by the Bush and Cheney Whitehouse.  They were the ones who Deregulated Energy wholesale.  that’s why the blow out protector replaced the more sound, safe  and  accepted Acoustic Valve.

You Go Boy, cause we followin ya. skrate to the voting booth. we need to sweep these evil clowns out who allowed this type of relaxed protection of our natural resources.  OIL Lobbyists get ready to hit the lobby for good.

Reuters reports that Actor and environmentalist Robert Redford has weighed in on the U.S. oil spill crisis, condemning efforts by major energy companies to promote their environmental credentials and use their money to influence “their parrots in Congress.”

In a five-minute YouTube video, produced by the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), Redford says the worst oil spill in U.S. history should serve as a lesson for Americans to move away from their dependence on oil and pursue alternative energy like wind and solar power.

“I think it is time for the American people to take charge of their own livelihood and say, let’s stop this and let’s move to a clean energy policy,” the “Out of Africa” star says in the video “The Fix” released on Thursday.

Redford, 73, who is also an NRDC trustee, said “green” advertising campaigns by BP, and Chevron’s “Human Energy” slogan made him “want to throw up”.

In a video featuring photos and TV footage of the six week long oil leak in the Gulf of Mexico, the Oscar-winning director accused big oil companies of being in collusion with U.S. politicians.

He urged Americans to “stop listening to the self-interested propaganda of the oil companies and their parrots in Congress”.

We also found out this week that BP had purchased the tag OILSPILL from Google. Yeah Bloody Right…. wonder why ? notice the bloody oil spill  crossing the boom around the peninsula; which is at one of the  Passes closed this weekend in Mississippi – due to the Oil.

That sounds sooooo fishy; especially coming from BP.  Everything they’ve said up to this point has proven to be  shady.  so why should this lil deal be any different ?   They’re hopefully going to use this tag to help repair life in the Gulf States and the Gulf itself.  That’s why we’re showing you the oil crossing the boom.  Sadly, We fully expect it to play out exactly that way with BP.  As we can all see, they are slippery.

It appears that the pressure on Congress has pointed them to start the move toward demanding an escrow account  be established by BP. Specifically for the money owed to fishermen, and others directly damaged by the oil spill.  Hopefully it’s going into action soon. Trust us the people who’s livelyhoods were destroyed needed it 50 days ago Tony.

Reuters Reports that BP has bought terms such as “oil spill” from search engine providers including Google Inc to help direct Internet users to its website as it attempts to control the worst oil spill in U.S. history.

A spokesman said BP would pay fees so its own website would rank higher or even top in the list of results when Internet users search on terms such as “oil spill,” “volunteer” and “claims.”

BP did not say how much it was paying for the service but President Barack Obama has criticised the company for spending $50 million on TV advertising to bolster its image during the crisis.

BP said it wanted to help people who were trying to access information on the BP website to find it more readily, rather than intending to draw away hits from other sites.

“We know people are looking for those terms on our website and we’re just trying to make it easier for them to get directly to those terms,” the spokesman told Reuters.

That sounds like another Parody, so we found this little parody to match it up. This is another joke about BP and the spill from some professional comics.  It’s Gone Viral and is burning up the internets – It’s called “The Coffee Spill”. It’s to me the closest demonstration of what’s happened down there since the spill, sadly.

Bloggers are researching the oil spill all over the world, and posting about it daily – as we have;  and  that is truly amazing.  people who are reaching out to find a solution and to find a way to let others know about it.  that’s what this is all about.  Finding a Way to Fix this Crisis – Quickly and Permanently.

This is one of hundreds of videos which show real smart green ways to remove and then reuse the oil that is removed from the gulf. we hope that the CEO of BP and the Head of the USDOE is subscribed to the youtube gulf oil spill solutions Search – because it’s booming.

The folks at CNN have decided to finally put their foot in the water and start looking at the solutions suggested by folks like you and me; to fix the leak and clean up the mess.  we’ll be sure to subscribe to that rss feed and post our favorites from it over the next few weeks.

one of the posts that made me crack up was this one from Man over Board. he wrote about this fabulous and Very worthy idea for cleaning up the oil spill – Use Hay.

Check It Out – then continue from there for the ugly side – you know we always have one.

We are reposting this post in an effort with many other bloggers who want to call out attention the travesty in the gulf.  Special mention to Mama at Recycled Frockery, who has been spearheading this movement. PLEASE not only stop by her great blog, but add comments or call people to have them join in,  to what is the worst oil spill of our time and with no end in sight!!!

Came across these two good ole boys who just might have a good idea here. Seems they have an an answer to all the oil that has been leaking into the gulf for some time now.

Their idea is to just add hay. Yup hay or straw shot out into the ocean and let it sit for a small amount of time and whamo, the oil is gone. It seems the oil attaches itself t the hay and simply scooping up the hay and as you will see, do one of many things with it.

Hay, it’s easy, it’s plentiful, it’s cheap and it’s a damn good idea.

It all started with this dang nabbit oil fire. these guys were fooling around probably fryin pork chops and somebody didn’t pay attention to what they were doing and bam they set the whole  darn area on fire.  yeah fire. like burning burnin and not a hunk a love in site.

Well Now Granny has burnt a biscuit pan here and there, but My Golly ain’t nobody ever had to put a underwater camera on my kitchen. shucks,  they even got space cameras a watchin em twenty four hours a day.

This is the guy who we hear actually made this mess. Yeah this is that scoundrel we told you about earlier, Tony.  Get a real good look at this carpetbagger. come all the way from england from what folks is a saying. either way that don’t make no difference to us, cause we ain’t got no crawdads, oysters and no fish to go with the grits;  caus a this buzzard right here. look at him, beady eyed.. so and so..

Tony then tellin everybody to let him handle it, cause he knows what he’s gotta do to clean it all up. well truth be told, most of us were so dang mad that we felt it better to stay away from Tony right then or we might end up in the hoosgow ourselves;  You know, for handlin it ourselves, you know – cajun style.  batter and beer included You Know.. we’re cajun, spicy baby.

Now I know you’re waiting for us to tell you about the other character, Dick. but that’s just it, we can’t tell you much of anything about him cause he’s a really sneaky snake. he’s a killer from what we hears. some say that wherevern he set up shop, bodies a plenty, soon gone foller. Whooo HA !

Who is collecting the names of candidates to Whoop Tony’s Ass for This Mess ?

I saw little turtles, poor pelicans and fish in schools washing up on the beach in tonites Larry King special on the gulf oil disaster and then AC 360. I am so mad I want to just drive down to find Tony and assist Mr. President Obama in Stuffing that piece of crap and his co turd Dick Cheney into that hole in the ocean floor. there is no doubt in my mind that those two crusty asses would stem the tide of oil, as they tried to siphon it off into their bottomless pirate  pockets.

To be expeditious and honest, this type of criminality should be punished Chinese Style – 1 Bullet behind the ear, on day two of the trial. that would be the end of Problem Maker – survivors would immediately realize it’s serious and get the shit fixed;  or be lined up for their treatment on day five.

It’s Times Like These that make me wonder how we can get Instant Whoop Ass into the Public Register of Punishments, available to any citizen for any reason at any time.  As my friend Cher says – “It’s A Blabathon”  they’re all just running their mouths and not doing a damn thing.

Listen to the Singer and also the Scrap Dealer – they both say the same thing: We Come Here to Work to Feed Ourselves and to Earn a Living.  yes they are earning a living – Living and Working on a trash mountain.

Amazingly the trash mountain is clearly  visible from the State Government Complex in Lagos.  Yet it’s forgotten like the old city on Victoria Island, in the lagoon.  Yes as you can see Nigeria has some beautiful modern architecture, and some really huge marketplaces. some of the biggest fortunes in Nigeria have been made in these trash heaps. people turn their scrap businesses into huge bank accounts; by becoming entrepreneurs of the highest order. they buy and sell Trash; internationally.   the problem is that regardless of how much money you have, if you live in Nigeria – you need to own a generator. Power is cut everyday – in a country that Exports Oil to the west. crazy indeed. I wondered why with all the oil flowing out of  the Nigerian delta, why no viable consistent power generation was happening – even in 2010.

the answer is that the corruption has prevented completing the country wide electrical and infrastructure grid. can you imagine a rich country with so many millionaires and Mercedes benzs’, and you still need your own generator ?  that’s why these green entrepreneurs are smarter. they realize that recycling any and everything is a worthwhile venture.

Did you notice that at the 7:40 mark the scrap dealer is checking the exchange for the rate of the dollar to see how to deal with the rate he will offer his sellers.  he as well as most other scrap dealers are what drive the reprocessed metals markets. millions of dollars of reclaimed steel, aluminum, copper, zinc and other materials are recycled into large blocks, which are then turned again into Cars, Furniture, and any other metal item that can be made from liquid metal. China has a whole marketplace specifically developed to deal with the exchange, sales and recycling of this scrap metal.

Nigeria has tackled it’s trash problems like alot of countries – by recycling and allowing people to handle the commerce informally.  this means that there is a huge untapped amount of money circulating right around the government that they can’t do anything about. simply because they neglected to handle the trash properly. Nigerians saw an opportunity and pounced on it.

More American entrepreneurs need to explore the recycling market on small scale; within their communities – as the Nigerians we see in these videos. sure we see people out collecting cans, but imagine if that person collected all the cans in their neighborhood, crushed them and then sold them – yes, that’s what I’m talking about. developing small collection banks like this so that trash doesn’t have to travel for processing – but can regenerate wealth where it came from. as well allow entrepreneurs to contribute back to their communities through reinvestment in property and employment of residents.  it’s a green circle, as Nigeria is showing us in these videos.

The green revolution is hot all across Africa. many new entrepreneurs are designing and making fortunes from the trash they collect and re-sell.  do you think that the government doesn’t see it ? why yes they do – yet they have no interest in it.  similarly it’s the same picture on a more industrialized scale in the US.  more people are going out on recycling missions than ever before. why ? because they realize the huge potential for return, without taxation.

At the slaughterhouse did you see them collecting even the contents of the stomach and the blood – To Sell.  Yes To Sell as chicken feed blood meal.  this eventually goes back into the food chain as chicken.  As they say each part of the cow is used, nothing is wasted. he even uses a waste tyre to process the blood. nothing, I repeat nothing is wasted – ever. These are Entrepreneurs, resourceful and energetic about making their way.

It would seem logical for governments to realize that Trash is worth much more than being a discard. Yet in America and most of  Europe; they seem to ignore it’s potential for immediate return, unless it’s involved in the carbon trading end of the equation.  yes they burn it – they bury it and they try to reprocess it somewhat – yet they don’t involve the real innovators, the people.  Most of the re-purposing and reuse ideas come from People – just like the people we see making their living from trash daily in Lagos Nigeria.

Simplicity is the easiest way to accomplish anything, as we can see from this video series.  huge facilities aren’t needed – People are Needed. their hands and eyes, their brains and ideas. that’s what makes it work.  you can see from this that the people who make the most are the most industrious.  if you go out and look for higher priced items to resell you make more and you can do more with your earnings. this is simple commerce, from a green viewpoint.  there is nothing trash about these folks except how they are making their money.  they are greener than most of us and have the ideas that we can all use to refresh our green entrepreneurial viewpoint.

Most huge trash heaps always attract people. it’s the people who live near the trash who realize most quickly how to process it to turn it into fortune.

The honesty of making a good honest living is the best part of these videos. they show you that not everyone in Africa is starving or in war. some are actually creating their fortunes – while living and helping the country to recycle it’s waste and discards.

Large clothing bundles shipped to Africa have become a large part of the marketplace in the past 10 years or so. the bluejeans and tee shirts that are discarded in the US and Europe go for a pretty penny here, but are recycled and reused by African entrepreneurs.  The clothes and shoes are always found in every marketplace, everywhere you go in Africa.  We think of them as out of style – yet you can find them walking down the streets of Lagos or Kaduna any day of the week, still. The EPA Says There is NO Safe Exposure to Radioactive Water – EVER.

It’s both disturbing and sad that we are attacked for revealing the truth.  the revolting part is that this is all because of a comment left by individual who knew better.  Don’t think that their bad deeds will go unreported – Ahh Nahh,,, not gonna happen. we got out finger on the pulse of what’s happening right at this very moment and we’ll be bringing you the startling developments from the energy circles around the city of brotherly love.

Just so you understand what this is all about, we want to bring it to you in a more easily recognized form -  yes this is Tritium.  Glow In the Dark Toys all contain Tritium. That’s what makes them glow.  Did you realize that ?

So the real question remains – How Dangerous is Tritium ?

Tritium – a radioactive isotope of hydrogen with a half-life of 12.3 years – is an essential component of the H-bomb and a waste product of the nuclear power industry. It is also widely used in medicine, and would help fuel future nuclear fusion reactors, if they ever become viable.

Representatives from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission have stated repeatedly that a member of the public has to ingest massive quantities of tritium over a long period of time to be affected by it.

But groups such as the National Physicians for Social Responsibility and Citizen Awareness Network say that tritium, like other radionuclides, is a serious threat to the health of humans and the environment.

Tritium, which is a beta emitter, causes cancer and birth defects, said Ira Helfand, a doctor at Cooley Dickinson in Northampton, Mass., and the co-founder and a former president of National Physicians for Social Responsibility

Helfand’s biggest concern is that tritium can cross the placental barrier. This was confirmed in animal studies, as documented by the United Nations Scientific Committee on the Effects of Atomic Radiation.

“Several statistically significant effects were found at various (tritium) levels, in no apparent relationship with dose,” it stated. “These included microcephaly (shrunken heads, also observed at Hiroshima), sterility, stunting, reduction of the litter size, …”

Our Friends at Greenpeace further posted a warning in europe on the Tritium releases from a leaking nuclear power plant in Romania

International environmental organisation Greenpeace presented a study on tritium emissions [1] from the Cernavoda nuclear power plant. It commissioned the study from the international tritium expert Dr. Ian Fairlie from the United Kingdom. The study recommends that pregnant women, nursing mothers, and children (under 4) should not live within 10 kilometres of the Cernavoda nuclear power plant, and that people living within 5 kilometres should not consume food from their gardens, beehives, orchards, and wild foods growing nearby.

[1] Tritium is the radioactive form of hydrogen. It is generated in very large amounts in CANDU reactors because of neutron radiation of heavy water – an essential part of these reactors. It is impossible to contain tritium in the nuclear power station and CANDU reactors emit several tens or hundreds of times more tritium than pressurised water reactors or boiling water reactors used elsewhere. Tritium can pose a health risk when incorporated in the human body, where its beta-radiation can damage cell-function and DNA.

This is about the Release of Radiation and why the plant operators lie – this is in california in 1960 – so we know they are covering up much more now.

Notice that between 5:10 and 6:00 they talk about the chemicals that are released AS STEAM. then they talk about how the Body Retains These Chemicals in the Bones, and the Teeth. YES the Body Absorbs these chemicals and years later we see often the results – cancer.  Water is the agent that is carrying the Tritium and we all have to drink water to live.

Spooks leaving Sour grapes comments  from companies who have been found complicit in The Dumping of Nuclear Tainted Water like Exelon Corporation; won’t make us stop reporting The TRUTH. When Nuclear Energy is managed safely and plants are maintained properly – there are benefits. yet corporations like the owners of Philadephia Electric and Gas; who also own Oyster Creek Nuclear - refuse to put the profits into making the plants safely contribute to the communities they serve; and can be found clearly guilty of being Toxic Terrorists by dumping Tritium into our water systems.

Yes it’s made me so sick that I had to share it with you. It’s a part of a fantastique expose on Webecoist.com called appropriately – Trashed Planet: Our Global Pollution Hangover. the photos show just how much we have damaged our own living environment.

This brings us to our most pressing ecological crisis – the oil well leaking in the Gulf of Mexico.  many of us are ignoring the true damage because we want to pray that it just won’t happen to us, AGAIN. Remember the Exxon Valdez ?

Thinking of children swimming in that horribly filthy stream.  the petrochemicals coating the surface, as well as the trash.  Even worse, think of them having only that stream as their source for drinking, and every other water need. Yeah, that’s right – what ?

Think about what’s happening in the Gulf of Mexico Right Now – Oil is Spilling and Will Soon Coat Our Shores, Again. This is exactly what we didn’t need – oil in the water. Oil is not easy to remove from water and the damage possibilities are sure to be devastating. The coastline, the flora and fauna will all be damaged.  Ecological experts predict that the entire ecosystem of the bayou and delta will be changed irreparably.  How can we allow these types of accidents to happen over and over ?

Look at this trash, this is mostly petrochemical based trash, piled as high as the eye can see, on everything. this is sickening.  It’s become so much of the landscape – People Are Forced To Live On It.  Unbelievable..

I suggest you take a few moments out of your day today and just look at the damage we’ve done to our homespace. when you do, take another moment and share it with someone that needs to know. why not make it someone important, like a legislator – or a community leader. why not your Pastor or Imam, your Evangelist or Reb. Tell them that God left them as his spokespersons, so what do they have to say about this mess we’ve made  ?

When you finally get someone to listen to you, honestly – then you will feel the exasperation that Mother Nature is feeling with us right now.  To think that more than 1000 barrels of oil per day are gushing from underneath the waters of the Gulf of Mexico everyday is maddening. When Will We accept Our partnership with the planet, and begin to be the stewards of Our destiny ?

The amount of chemical waste and run off from the Oil Spill in the Gulf of Mexico is expected to leave it’s mark for up to 100 years.. that’s 10 generations.

Still we are living without the Acoustic Switch on Oil Rigs in the US ?

WHY ? Because of the Cheney Rules..

the switch costs 500 thousand and it would have allowed a blow out of the bottom of the well to stop the flow of the oil. Dick Cheney met with the oil and energy heads during the bush years and Deregulated the Oil Industry. 20 million gallons of Cheney BS is flowing into the Gulf of Mexico as we read this.

58 Billion Cups A Year Kill 20 Million Trees and use 12 Billion Gallons of Water for their production. Shameful.. yet you amble up to your favorite java joint and slink out with that dead tree in your hand. how can you look at yourself after that, really ?

I remember when I started taking my cup around with me and figuring out that you pay for whatever fits in your cup which is usually the size of your standard cup. I have a cold bottle with a nice resealable lid large enough to hold my home frozen ice; in my home filtered water. if I want something else I try to get it in my cup, or in recyclable plastic; glass or aluminum. otherwise it’s a no. yeah, I mean a no. I don’t like to buy those aluminum lined juice sachets and or the wax lined paper boxes since I know how much petroleum and tree went into their making.

This is So Easy Anyone can MAKE Their Own Cup –

Now don’t you think that you can give up on your paper cup habit?

the average coffee drinker uses five (5) cups a week – that’s two hundred fifty (250) cups tossed a year. wowww,, that’s roughly fifty eight billion (58,000.000.000) with a B cups a year that get tossed and NOT Recycled. For Shame.. that’s the equivalent of ten (10) cups for every person on the planet. Unbelievably selfish when you think of it that way, isn’t it ?

IT’S Earthday.. One of Our Favorite Holidays

Wayyyyyy back in the mid 70′s As a senior at U of M at the School of Natural Resources in Ecology Studies; we helped bring the concept to life for our campus. there is never a time when Earth should be second to man. man originates from the genetic material of Earth. many wonder how man originated, but that’s secondary to how earth sustains us. Hydrogen, Oxygen, and Nitrogen that’s what it’s all about.. GAS.

Earthday is April 22nd and each of us owes our salt to Mother Earth

So Today lets take a moment and think about how much this planet gives to our existence. heck it is our existence..

Many of you won’t remember this, but the Cuyahoga River Actually Burned.

In fact it happened several times, damaging the bridge and preventing use.  It was a dangerous totally polluted mess. it took many many many people, many many years; to restore it to a some what clean stream. There is no way anyone should have ever let that happen. Yet this type of brownstream pollution is still continuing on our planet today. Ask Yourself Why – then look at the amount of trash we generate and where it’s disposed of mainly.

Burning is dumping; dumping into our waterways, soil and in-fact our food chain. Until we get the toxic waste buildup disposal problem under control, we will have a very big problem.  This waste is now showing up in our pockets in the form of taxes to fix the mess.

Friends, How long can this be the norm ?  Really, it’s got to stop

Cleveland is one of the parts of the Cuyahoga that I’ve seen;  and in the flats where the river flows through downtown it’s clean. It generates money by offering venues waterside access. there are parks, and lots of new housing from converted abandoned warehouse stock; which had previously sat vacant for decades – due to the brownfield and brownstream issues. Cleaning up the river returns money to the areas that it flows through. This has been proven time and again.

Water is our most precious resource.  Yet we waste it and trash it as though it’s boundless. Well guess what people, water on this planet is in such short supply that some predict it will run out before oil. Watch This Wake Up Call.

so now that all the side-eyeing is over, lets look at the guys at work. this is from a mexican prison work program in Taxco Mexico.  The video shows them starting at the begining cutting the paper, and then shows you all the bag styles they’ve made that day on a table. beautiful selection indeed.

As you can see these bags are chains. I can do the chain. I’ve got a bag of brown foil paper chains. They all need to be reinforced with the plain paper interior. Now that I know that these are sewn together I have some work to do.. maybe by this fall I’ll have my green brown candy paper bag.

I didn’t realize that they were stuffed with paper for strength, until I saw this video. I watched the video with interest and got alot of information that the other videos on these purses don’t give you. such as how they get the zipper in there, and how they connect the chains. that’s what we all want to know; and how they add that strap. now we know.

Watch Closely – she shows you how you connect the ends to make a complete round. this is the key to making the rounds that you sew together into your purse. Ahhhhhh Yessss…

These prisoners are true artisans, in every sense of the word.  It’s totally green since they have been rehabilitated as artisans and craftspeople.  As hoped, they’ve started teaching the craft to their kids and families.  Thereby producing a whole industry making these cute candy wrapper bags. that’s totally green don’t you think ?

The selection of purses and colors depends on whats available locally in the trash. Remember that in Mexico many of the bags made in small family co-ops come from trash collected in their village. that keeps the area clean and brings back money. that’s the way green economies work.   Because nothing is wasted.  this is the concept that every community needs to adopt globally.

These are the higher styled versions – and yes this is what I’m spending my ducats on. one with a leather strap and closure. this is the perfect all season bag. it’s so eco friendly and chic. who couldn’t love this bag as a gift ?

This is the Finishing Piece. She shows you how to connect them by sewing with wide thread which disappears. So Magical. never mind that you can hardly hear her voice, you know she knows what she’s doing. no doubt this will inspire you to start thinking about weaving your own magical pattern. mines is certainly developing inside my head; so candy aisles beware – the mad crafter is stalking you now.
